Event Description

In Advent we began Cycle C of the Sunday readings. The gospel for Cycle C is the Gospel of St. Luke. It is a unique and marvelous telling of the life of Jesus for Luke’s community as well as for the larger Church community of his times and down through the ages. Some questions addressed in these talks and discussions:

  • Who was St. Luke?
  • When did he write?
  • Who was his audience?
  • What was St. Luke’s world like?
  • Why did he write about Jesus?

We will consider these  questions and his story of Jesus within the framework of  the liturgical calendar. There are suggested background readings for  each evening. Suggested reading for January 23rd:   St. Luke 4:14 – 9:50

Our speaker, Frank O’Neill is a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Toronto.

Frank was the head of Religious Studies at Neil McNeil High School and is presently taking courses in scripture at Regis College a member of the Toronto School of Theology.
