Our love and concern for our neighbours means that during the COVID-19 pandemic, sadly, there will not be public Holy Week ceremonies in the Archdiocese of Toronto this year. This is a distressing time for the faithful, but this hardship is necessary for ensuring the common good of our community.
However, in these unusual times, there are still a number of ways that the faithful can prayerfully unite themselves through the sacred ceremonies of Holy Week.
All Holy Week ceremonies will be livestreamed from St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica on its website and Facebook page. All those videos will be archived for later viewing. The cathedral’s Holy Week schedule is as follows:
The faithful will be able to watch, via livestream, a Mass which will be celebrated every day at 7:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica, followed by the Angelus and the Rosary.
This Mass, Rosary and Angelus will also be available on the Archdiocese of Toronto’s YouTube channel for those who cannot join at 7:30 a.m. In addition, Mass will be broadcast daily on Salt & Light Catholic Media Foundation, VisionTV (Daily TV Mass) and EWTN.
As Cardinal Collins wrote in his letter, “...we pray for those suffering and for those who are caring for the sick. We are facing many trials during our Lenten journey this year. We take these to prayer, and look for opportunities to be the face of Jesus to all those whom we encounter."
Welcome to Corpus Christi's parishioner community website run by parishioners for parishioners at the request of parishioners. This site is a "private social network". Timings of all masses and other regular devotions are listed on the left. Located at 1810 Queen Street East in The Beach in Toronto, the parish of Corpus Christi is home to a vibrant, active Catholic community. The Church was built in 1927 and was declared a heritage building by the City of Toronto in 1973. In addition to beautiful stained glass by Italian-Canadian master Guido Nincheri, the church houses a mural by the Canadian painter William Kurelek whose works also hang in the AGO. The Choir of Corpus Christi is one of the best kept musical secrets in Toronto. Every Sunday at 11 am, this talented amateur choir under the baton of musical director and organist Paul Dick, leads congregation and visitors in beautiful liturgical music as the Mass is celebrated. Corpus Christi was assigned the school chaplaincy for St Denis Catholic School in 2014 during the tenure of then-pastor Msgr Bianco and these duties are now carried out by our current pastor Fr Prasanth. Bishop Robert Kasun oversees the zone in which Corpus Christi falls.
New parishioners, please be aware that becoming a member of this parishioner-run community site is not the same as parishioner registration.
